Registration with FairestBnb is free of charge for hosts and volunteers. Registrations contribute to the operation of the FairestBnb platform and are meant for both to discover their possibilities.
We only charge the volunteer a small service fee when a booking is made and confirmed by the host, thus when you actually use our services. We need this fee to cover the costs of providing, improving and upgrading our services in order for volunteers and hosts to connect to each other in an easy way. The amount of the service fee is € 18,- per booking (the use of third party payment service providers not included) and will be shown during the process.
FairestBnb works like a booking site to make it clear and accessible to mobilise as many people as possible towards achieving their goals. Hosts can choose if they accept instant bookings or accept a booking after their approval. To benefit both, we expect that the host will approve the booking within 48 hours and we expect that the volunteer will finish the booking within 48 hours when it is accepted by the host.
The truth is that it takes time and money to set this up and to keep it spam free. In the long term, we want to provide a way to communicate. In the meantime, we hope that you can get the best out of our platform as it is.
You can change your password by going to the ‘login page’ (you must be logged out first). Then click on the link ‘Forgot password?’ and it takes you to the password reset page.
We strive to provide the right tools and services for the fairest transaction. We do check the host profiles before putting them online. We regularly check other profiles, but we facilitate contacts and do not act as an agent. So make sure you double check who you are talking to. We advise to video call beforehand, just to make sure the person on the other end is who they say they are.
Sometimes for whatever reason an exchange might not work as expected, either for the host, the volunteer or both. We suggest you to discuss this with an open mind and respect each other’s opinions or cultural differences. Make the best of it together, look at the bright side and see it as a part of your (mental) journey. Both of you can decide to terminate the arrangement at any time. Always do this in a respectful, understanding and helpful way to prevent problems for each other.
You can close an account by contacting us at info@fairestbnb.com. We will deactivate your account but keep your account information to deter fraud. For example by ensuring that people who try to commit fraud will not be able to open a new account without getting detected by our server. However, if you close your account, your personally identifiable information will not be used by us for any further purposes, nor sold or shared with third parties, except as necessary to prevent fraud and assist law enforcement authorities, or as required by law. Please see our Data and Privacy Policy about the personal information we collect.
FairestBnb wants to make the world a sharing community. We invite all kinds of non-profit organisations who can provide a place to stay. This can be a couch, a private room, a caravan, you name it. The only thing we ask is that you open your heart and care for everybody as we care for the world. Please also see Information for hosts.
FairestBnb works like a booking site and doesn’t work with a messaging system. You can specify your availability and you only receive bookings or requests from volunteers within this specification. There are several platforms with a cause similar to ours. On these platforms hosts have difficulties with all the messages about availabilities they receive and have to respond to that while there are plenty other things they have to take care of. Please also see Who we are where my idea of this platform came from.
First of all we expect you to be a friendly host! After you ‘ve joined us, you create a host page on our platform. You provide as much information as you can, let volunteers know what skills or help you need and keep your calendar up to date. To benefit both, we expect that you will accept booking requests within 48 hours (and that the volunteer will finish the booking within 48 hours when it is accepted by you).
After a booking is completed by the volunteer, you will find the contact details of the volunteer on your dashboard, tab “Bookings”.
When you want to double check the booking (e.g. requested booking date or your guest) first, you can choose for “Required approval” on your dashboard, tab “Accommodations”. The booking can only be completed by the volunteer after your approval.
Instant bookings allow volunteers that meet your requirements to book immediately instead of making a booking request first. By doing so, you help the volunteer to plan their visit immediately instead of letting them wait for your approval. Also, the chance that a volunteer wants to help you too, is doubled! If you don’t want to use “Instant booking”, you can choose for “Required approval” on your dashboard, tab “Accommodations”.
There are several reasons and circumstances a booking request will be cancelled by the volunteer. The dates of the booking request for your accommodation will be available again for other volunteers.
